Diamond DA20
F.A.Q.

Q. Does the DA20 qualify for LSA?

A. No.  The Diamond DA20 is too fast and exceeds the maximum weight limit.

Q. Why is the Diamond not certified for flight into IMC?

A.  The cost of recertifying the DA20 for flight into IMC would require the addition of a number of elements for static and lightening protection.  These changes would add significantly to the cost and weight of the DA20.  The vast majority of initial instrument training is conducted strictly in VFR conditions.  Many flight schools successfully utilize the DA20 for all primary training up to private instrument.  If you require a IFR certified airplane at low cost, Diamond offers the DA40CS.

Q. Why the Diamond DA20?

A.  The Diamond DA20 is probably the most economical certified 2 place trainer available today.  The engine is a simple IO-240, and the DA20 can cruise to speeds near 140 knots at about third less fuel than you would burn in a Cessna 172.  The cabin is spacious, the visibility amazing and the airplane is really fun to fly.  It is spin certified and has been proven in millions of flight hours.
