F.A.Q.

Q. When will the Diamond D-JET be certified?

A. More details forthcoming.

Q. How many D-JETs are currently flying?

A. 3 D-JETs have been used for certification testing to date.

Q. Why is the D-JET only certified to 25,000 ft?

A. The Diamond D-JET was designed to fly to FL250 to increase safety and decrease cost.  The D-JET was built around the owner pilot.  Most owner pilots will be transitioning from high performance pistons, twins or turboprops.  The experience level of pilots flying at higher altitudes is significantly higher than most owner pilots.  Additional cost is needed to certify the airplane above 25,000 ft.  In the event of cabin depressurization, the time of useful consciousness at FL250 is measured in minutes, while at FL410 the time of useful consciousness is measured in seconds .  Also the majority of the light jets will be held in the lower flight levels due to their slower speeds and shorter flight profiles.

The Diamond D-JET will be the first personal light jet to the market.  It is designed to be the Bonanza of the 21st century.   The cabin is wider than a King Air and from the back seat, the average size person has so much leg room that he cannot even touch the back of the front seat.    Three seperate storage compartments provide significant volume to store large luggage and long items such as skiis.   The single engine Williams FJ33-5A allows for speeds over 300 knots, low fuel burns, and simple maintenance.  Perhaps the best part is the pricing... a fully loaded D-JET is 1.89 Million.
